Michael Sgro '97

Assistant Director for Marketing & Family Programs

Michael is in his fifth year back at Le Moyne in charge of marketing, the online community, the Non-Profit Network and family friendly programming including Family Weekend.  Michael returned to the Heights after moving back from New York City, where he spent nine years.

A native of Syracuse, Michael grew up on the "Italian" north side and spent his early days at Le Moyne elementary. Michael's family had immigrated to the United States from Messina, Sicily and found a natural fit in the north side of the city. Michael's family encouraged him to attend the college as so many first generation students attended previously and certainly to follow.  As a student at Le Moyne, Michael was a very active leader including roles as the Black Robe editor, Resident Assistant, L.S.P.B. Publicity Chair, and four time summer employee in Student/Residence Life.

After graduating Le Moyne College in 1997 with a B.A. in Psychology, Michael started his tenure in higher education at Fordham University as a Resident Director. Michael spent four years at Fordham and opened one of the newest residence halls in his last year.

Michael spent the next five years at New York University's Stern School of Business where he worked in both MBA Student Activities and Alumni Affairs. Michael was also elected one of the three university senators representing his fellow administrators in the University Senate.

Michael currently serves on the Marketing & Communications Task Force of 40 Below and is the adviser of C.A.R.E (Creating Awareness and Reaching for Equality), a student club on campus and a member of both the Web Committee and Enrollment Management committee at Le Moyne.  He lives near campus in Eastwood.
